Stoner Rifle-25 / SR-25

The SR-25 (Stoner Rifle-25)[1] is a semi-automatic sniper rifle designed by Eugene Stoner and manufactured by Knight's Armament Company.[1] The SR-25 uses a rotating bolt and a direct impingement gas system. It is loosely based on Stoner's AR-10, rebuilt in its original 7.62x51mm NATO caliber. Up to 60% of parts of the SR-25 are interchangeable with the AR-15 and M16—everything but the upper and lower receivers, the hammer, the barrel assembly and the bolt carrier group.[1] SR-25 barrels were originally manufactured by Remington Arms with its 5R (5 grooves, rounded) rifling, with twist 1:11.25 (1 complete turn in 11.25 inches / 286 millimetres). The heavy 20 in (510 mm) barrel is free-floating, so handguards are attached to the front of the receiver and do not touch the barrel.


Design


The SR-25 enhanced match rifle utilizes the newer URX II Picatinny-Weaver rail system, rather than the older Mk 11 free-floating RAS, on the top of the receiver to accept different scope mounts or a carrying handle with iron sights (front sight mounted on the rail located on the forward end of the non-modular handguard).[2] The match version is designed to shoot at a precision of 0.5 minute of arc, which corresponds to 0.5-inch (13 mm) groups at 100 yards (91 m).

The Mk 11 Mod 0 system comes in 7.62 mm NATO caliber, and is designed for match-grade 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition. The Mk 11 system includes the rifle, 20 round box magazines, QD (Quick Detachable) scope rings, Leupold Mark 4 Mil-dot riflescope, Harris swivel-base bipod on a Knight's mount, and QD sound suppressor, which is also manufactured by Knight's Armament Co.[1] Flip-up BUIS (Back up iron sights) are attached to the modified gas block and upper receiver.

The Mk 11 Mod 0 utilizes a Obermeyer 20 in (510 mm) match target barrel, along with a RAS (Rail Accessory System) fore-end made by KAC, consisting of an 11.35 in (288 mm) long match fore-end. The RAS allows for quick attachment/detachment of MIL-STD-1913 components. The aluminum fore-end makes no contact with the barrel forward of the receiver, allowing for extreme accuracy. The Mk 11 Mod 0 has an empty weight of 15.3 lb (6.9 kg), and an overall length of 45.4 in (115 cm). The civilian version, using the longer 24 in (610 mm) match barrel, are guaranteed to produce groupings using factory match loads of less than 1 in (25 mm) at 100 yd (91 m) or 0.3 angular mil.

The new SR-25 Enhanced Match (E.M.) Carbine is very similar to the KAC M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System,[2] though the M110 utilizes the newer URX Rail system, a length-adjustable fixed buttstock, and an integrated flash suppressor. Starting late 2011 USMC snipers will replace Mk11 Mod 0 rifles with the M-110 SASS rifle, on a one on one basis.

aprovechando la foto, siempre he visto el sr con el peq2, pero ese operador no lo lleva. Es mucho mas pequeño. Alguien podria darme pistas de que designador es??? (imagino que sera un designador). Para que año valdria????.

Me encanta este rifle! Serái correcto para una equipa Woodland Greenside de finales de los 90, inicios de 2000? Solo lo he visto en desert.

Es que a mi tampoco, pero viendo la sesión Anopheles de Lord_Sex & cía llevan uno, situando como fecha de la recreación el 1999. Pero nadie comenta que esté mal, así que vete a saber...

Exacto, esa es la primera foto que me vino a la cabeza, pero para recrear siempre utilizo fotos de referencia reales. Si es verdad que sus sesiones son técnicamente excelentes y es muy probable que si ha sacado el rifle es porque tenga alguna fotografía real o información de primera mano. Prueba a mandarle un MP preguntándoselo.

Es muy raro que alguien comente un fallo públicamente en esas sesiones.

Claro, yo también uso referencias reales. Copiamdo sesiones tienes los fallos tuyos y los fallos del anterior. Y mo eres original.

Efectivamente, cualquier sesión viene bien para coger ideas y del estilo, pero como referencia mejor las reales.

Sí, y la mayoría de ellas son más que bien recibidas y muy necesarias para corregir y mejorar en futuras sesión, vainas, localización, placas en el chaleco...etc...y otras críticas bueno....dejémoslo ahí que este post es sobre la SR jeje.

La foto mas vieja que tengo de el en uso es de unas maniobras en USA en 1996, tiradores de los SF practicando con el y con el m82a1.

En quanto al Sr-25 en si, se empezo a usar a principios 90's, pero no con el sistema de railes y la configuracion mas conocida, eran mas bien semi-prototipos, y por lo tanto no seria correcto. Pero la que te digo de 1996 ya estaba en uso la version a la que te refieres.

Según la wikipedia se los Seals lo usaron por primera vez en Somalia, 1993. Pero no hay fotos.
