SO1 Tyler S. Stimson.
Born February 22, 1980, son of C. Thomas and Linda (Sevigny) Stimson, died accidently on July 16, 2010.
Tyler, a 1998 Kingswood High School and a 2002 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of New Hampshire, enlisted in the Navy and entered the SEAL program. During college Tyler was a Marine reservist who graduated OCS at Quantico, Virginia. As a SEAL, Tyler served several combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It was when he enlisted in the Navy that he met the love of his life and future wife, Chelsey Joanne Sjolseth.
Married November 10, 2007 (USMC birthday), they and their three dogs made their home in Norfolk, Virginia.
In addition to his wife, Tyler leaves behind his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Thomas Stimson of Wakefield, NH, his sister, Ms. Jessica Stimson of Denver, CO., and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frances Sevigny of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by his aunt, Ms. Carol Stevens of Savannah, GA, an uncle, Mr. Marc Sevigny of Kennebunkport, ME, and an aunt, Ms. Sara Stimson of Biddeford, ME. He is further survived by his wife’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Sjolseth and his sister-in-law, Ms. Ashley Sjolseth and a niece, Bridget Rookhuizen.
Tyler loved life, his wife, his family and the SEALs. He loved reading, spending quality time with friends, riding his motorcycle, skydiving and serving his country. Tyler was generous, giving, caring and so positively affected the lives of all he touched.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 22nd, 10 am at the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek Base Theater with Burial at Arlington National Cemetery to follow at a later date.
His wife and family would respectively request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
