Josh Harris exemplefied perserverance. From his days as a football player at Lexington High School, as an artist while living in New York City to his decision to become a Navy Seal at the age of 27. Despite being at the edge of the cut off age limit, Josh secured a waiver and began some of the toughest military training in the world. Josh survived the grueling training and actually excelled. Joining Seal Team 10 he earned the Bronze Star while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Josh did not seek recognition, but was a highly decorated member of the Navy Special Warfare Development Group. Special Warfare Officer First Class Joshua Harris died while conducting a combat river crossing in Afghanistan on August 30, 2008. Because of so many before him and since we are able to enjoy the freedoms that we so often take for granted. We, the founders of this event are determined that the memory of Josh be kept alive and celebrated. We hope that this event will help in some way to honor Josh and all the veterans of all the wars of this great country.
